Event Description

A New Kind of LEadership
presents a one-day conference

The new coalition government ideas about such issues as the Big Society offer an opportunity to develop a new kind of politics in this country. It will require a major break from the past – old attitudes and old behaviours. They will need to be replaced by something very new. For the Big Society to work, there needs to be much greater appreciation of the role women play in social innovation.

‘It is women who value partnership, seek collaboration, make adjustments and think about the common good and yet, still there is no mention in any political statements about the role that women can play in making these a reality.’ (Su Maddock, MBS)

This event will give you the opportunity to do some high quality, innovative thinking about what changes are needed at a national, local and personal level, if women are too participate fully in improving our society for everyone’s sake.

What are the challenges of the Big Society?
What innovative ideas are there for overcoming the huge economic challenge we face?
What difference would the presence of women make?
How can more women be encouraged to participate in politics?
