Describe yourself, briefly: I am a British female committed to social change for the better

What do you do, mostly?: I am a freelance writer, a visual artist and a social entrepreneur. My focus is on using arts and communication in peace building and community cohesion

If you were Prime Minister what would you do?: Not in order:

1. Engage better with the people of Britain. Listen.
2. Promote cohesive communities with a non-confrontational pride in a diverse identity
3. Probably totally reassess our investment and trade in Defence
4. Engage with the traditional and digital media - helping them understand their role and responsibility in shaping British communities
5. Change the face of Parliament and Politics

What does Soft Power say to you?: It's an abstract concept really - and one that I think if pushed will alienate many potential candidates. Let's keep it simple.

As I said here: http://www.defstrat.com/exec/frmArticleDetails.aspx?DID=199 .....although Obama is known as an advocate of soft power where possible, let us not forget that whilst better than war, soft power is not about dialogue or finding common ground. It is not about helping a people find the solutions to their problems themselves – it is about having a single-minded agenda and using means of influence to achieve your aim, in short “A belief of one person’s perspective over another”.....
