Check out: Leadership in tough times-conversations, debates and solutions!-18th of May 2009

Leadership in tough times-18th of May 2009 - 9am-6pm at Rich Mix , 35-47 Bethnal Green Road, London, E1 6LA
one day of no nonsense conversations, debates and solutions!

We are living in unprecedented times. As leaders, we are feeling insecure, relentlessly challenged, anxious and out of our depth with tough calls to be made about our people and our organisations. Yet more than ever we need to inspire, lead and engage, how?

On 18th May, 60 leaders will engage in no-nonsense conversations, debates and dialogue about how to survive and thrive as leader right now.

Using your input, gathered in advance, we will create a forum where your issues, anxieties, dillemma's are at the centre of what will be discussed. It will be an "unplugged event" in a no frills environment focussing on issues that matter.

Well let's start the discussion right here. What are your top three issues and how would you begin to respond to them?

Mine are 1) how to create the circumstances that will make it possible for mothers and fathers to enter public life and have influence without penalising their children one tiny bit 2) how to shift the idea of globalisation away from being something malign to something benign - something we are happy and excited about and 3) how to help alienated teenagers potentialise their lives.

My first thoughts in response are 1) move on from the work-life balance to a properly integrated whole-life ethic 2) promote the new ideas of soft power over hard power so that nations engage rather than try to dominate each other and 3) recognise that the teenage brain is highly emotional, idealistic and easily fired up by ideas: give them something difficult to do and support them all the way...

Come on now - YOUR GO!
